Museu Papel- Moeda – António Cupertino de Miranda
Description
The Paper Money Museum is integrated into the António Cupertino de Miranda Foundation, a private cultural institution located opposite the City Park and which also has a Congress and Exhibition Centre.
There are two permanent exhibition halls, where the actual paper money is shown, as well as a miniatures exhibition. Whilst the first tells the story of paper money in Portugal and includes an important collection of bank notes, featuring all of the bank notes issued by the Bank of Portugal and the Overseas National Bank, the second exhibits more than 5,000 miniature cars as well as other collections, such as boats, trains and airplanes.
To help visitors understand the setting as a whole, there are movies, models, viewmasters and multimedia kiosks. Advanced booking is required.
