Description

The Church of Saint Ildefonso was built between 1709 and 1739 and displays a beautiful facade lined with Jorge Colaço tiles, depicting scenes from the life of Saint Ildefonso and Eucharist allegories. Inside the church, there is an altarpiece in baroque and rococo wood carving from the first half of the eighteenth century, by Nicolau Nasoni. This church is close to the old Batalha Cinema, an Art Deco building designed by architect Artur Trindade and launched in 1947 and which is classified as a Public Interest Monument.
