Igreja de Santa Clara
Description
The Church of Santa Clara was originally Gothic in style and its construction dates back to the first half of the fifteenth century.
Its interior was covered with gilt wood work in the first half of the eighteenth century and its beautiful Renaissance portal is one of several changes made in the building in the modern era. This church is located next to the Metropolitan Police Department of Public Safety, the Fernandina Wall, and the Guindais Funicular.
It is a true gem of the Baroque, and its decorative exuberance is awe inspiring.
